About Us

The Village Nursery is part of our group of six nurseries, all sharing the same vision, educational ethos and approach to working with children and families.

outstanding logoWe strongly believe in seeing children as individuals. Our ethos is to work closely with and build meaningful relationships with families. By respecting that all children are different and they come to our nursery with unique experiences of family, friends and their world, we are able to build upon this to support each child to make friends and build relationships at nursery.

You are key in how we care for and work with your child. From the settling in process as a baby and at each stage of transition through nursery life to toddlers, preppies and pre-school, children who see warm and authentic interactions between a parent and the adult caring for them at nursery, soon learn that that adult can be trusted and can be relied upon for a cuddle, comfort or as a play partner. Our strong belief is that we can best meet the needs of children, parents and our team by listening to what they have to say about nursery. You will find many opportunities to tell us what you think and how we can improve right from the start. From the settling in process all the way through to the day your child leaves us, confident, happy and extremely well prepared to start school.

We were delighted to be graded as OFSTED Outstanding in all areas in 2013. You can read our OFSTED report by clicking here or on the logo to the right.

Julie Lightley, Owner/Director

Early Years Teacher, BA (Hons) Early Years Studies, MA Education (Early Years)

My role is very much about facilitating our teams to deliver the best in early years care and education. Working closely with Emma Jones, we are constantly on-hand to support Rebecca and her team. Being in regular contact and visiting often means I know the many fantastic opportunities Rebecca provides at nursery for children and the close relationships she’s developed with our families at The Village.

Emma Jones, Operations Director

Early Years Teacher, Post Gradute Certificate of Education, MA Education (Early Years)

Working closely with Julie, we ensure that Rebecca has everything she needs to deliver first class childcare in a beautiful learning environment with an outstanding team of practitioners. My teaching and leadership experience means I can provide mentoring and guidance to support Rebecca to continue to meet all the requirements of her role.

Rebecca Moore, Nursery Manager

Foundation Degree in Eatly Years

Having been at The Village Nursery for 21 years I think it's safe to say I love my role as Nursery Manager!
I am very proud to lead a wonderful team of practitioners who all share the same vision of making The Village Nursery a happy, safe and stimulating environment to be in. My team and I are dedicated to building outstanding relationships with all of our families, ensuring we form a unique and strong partnership throughout their time at nursery. I am dedicated to supporting my team in their continual growth to enable us to provide the highest quality care, teaching and learning.

Cara Byrne, Assistant Manager and SENDCO

BA (Hons) Early Childhood. Working Towards MA in Leadership in Early Years

As the Assistant Manager I work very closely with Rebecca and Rachel in leading our team to achieve the highest standards. I love to coach and mentor the team, helping them to reach their full potential and having a positive impact on children’s experiences. I am also the nursery Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and I am extremely passionate about helping all children thrive in their early years and feel I champion each child to have their voice heard.

Rachel White, Assistant Manager

Level 3 Childcare Qualification, working Towards MA in Leadership in Early Years

I have over 10 years childcare experience, working with mainly pre-school children, particularly with the Montessori approach. I am highly committed to my own professional development and to that of my team, with the objective of ensuring high quality childcare and education for all our children. I have a passion for delivering training and keep the child at the heart of everything I do.

Vicky Mehmed, Lower Pre-school Room Supervisor / 3rd in Charge

Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies and working towards BA (Hons) in Early Years

I love my role and feel I bring lots of energy and creativity to a very active group of little pre-schoolers. I enjoy learning new things not only from my studies but from the children, families and our team. I love to support others and I thoroughly embrace my role as mentor, sharing my knowledge and experience to support others.

Rachel Meehan, Baby Room Supervisor / 3rd in Charge

BA (Hons) In Early Years

Baby room is often the first point when children join nursery and so building trusting relationships and making sure my team give mums and dads all the confidence they need to feel happy about leaving their baby in our care is my priority. I am very passionate about forming secure attachments as this is vital to enable children to feel like they are cared for by trusted adults.

Danielle Morgan, Toddler Room Supervisor

Level 3 Childcare Qualification

Having worked at the Village Nursery whilst completing my qualification has been so useful as I gained valuable experience with all age ranges in nursery, but I can honestly say this is the one for me! I enjoy each day being different as our curious little ones engage in lots of purposeful play, learning at such a fast pace about the world around them.

Naomi Karimi, Relief Supervisor

Level 3 Childcare Qualification

Each day can be very different at nursery as I move around the rooms, supporting the teams, enjoying time with all the children and allowing the room supervisors to spend some time planning for their children and their learning environments. I am very creative and love to use my imagination to inspire the children and enhance their learning. I have a huge passion for the power of puppet play as this encourages children to express feelings and discuss their emotions in fun and engaging way.

Sian Allsop, Preppie 1 Room Supervisor

Level 3 Childcare Qualification

I thoroughly enjoy supporting children with their communication and language and so working with our older toddler age group of children whose language skills are developing at such a fast rate, is perfect for me. I attend lots of training and professional development that supports my knowledge in this area and I use this to support children and share information with parents.

Mandy Greenhalgh, Preppies 2 Room Supervisor

Level 3 Childcare Qualification

I have a fantastic team and work closely with Sian and her team in the Preppies 1 class. I am a huge advocate for outdoor learning and strongly believe that children benefit from making their own decisions particularly in the outdoor environment.

Diana Ciccota, Pre-school Supervisor

Level 3 Childcare Qualification

I have over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages. Although I love working with all age groups, pre-school is definitely where my heart lies! You can always rely on a pre-schooler to ask the most burning questions putting everyone on the spot…and if we don’t know the answer, we will always find out! I love the un-predictableness that pre-school offers and the learning opportunities that present themselves constantly. I love anything literacy based and I use my creativity and imagination during our extensive carpet time sessions.
