20 Years of Childcare!

Last Saturday saw a very special day in the Village Nursery calendar – our 20 Year Celebration Carnival.

Proceedings began with “Ticket Master Mo” on hand to greet everyone as they entered through our balloon archway. Having been here for all of the nursery’s 20 years, who better to remember the grown-up faces that used to belong to some of our very own nursery children! Families past and present attended the day and eagerly scoured our history board and photographs to see who they could recognise and remember.

The wonderful Ben Cajee from Cbeebies arrived and very soon an eager crowd of young faces surrounded him as he entertained them with books and stories. Later on in the garden, both parents and children joined Ben in an interactive singing session with all his little helpers!

All of the rooms around the nursery held lots of different activities from traditional carnival games such as the Coconut Shy, Hook-a-Duck and Ring Toss, where the children happily showed off their medals and prizes rewarded for their efforts. We also had guess the name of the teddy, a creative area, carnival themed photo booth, face painting and caricature drawing.

Of course, no carnival day would be complete without a raffle and tombola and we would like to thank everyone who donated the wonderful prizes we had on offer, helping to raise money for Key 103’s Cash for Kids charity!

The turn out on the day was fantastic and it was wonderful to see so many families both old and new. The team enjoyed catching up with everyone and hearing what they are all up to. Parent feedback on the event has been wonderful:

“Such a joyous afternoon, thank you all for your efforts – here’s to the next 20 years and a lot of very lucky children,” stated one parent (Sarah Conti)

“It was such a great day, you are all such a lovely team of people’ stated another (Corrine Welsh)

“Thanks to you all for a wonderful day. We all loved it and you should all be very proud of yourselves… this nursery is the best by far.” Christopher Ashton told us

So thankyou to everyone who attended, and here’s to the next, even happier, 20 years!
