One of our parents recently enquired about some help with understanding literacy and developing handwriting for her 4 year old. From this we decided it would be a great idea to offer parents a workshop to learn more about supporting early literacy.
On Wednesday 29th January, parents were invited to come and take part in an interactive training session. The session was run by Stacey, our Early Years Teacher. Parents were able to leave their children with our practitioners so they could take part without having to worry about childcare arrangements.
The presentation included lots of pictures and videos demonstrating Early Literacy. Parents were pleased to see their own children on the slides! The training focussed on the importance of developing communication, listening and attention for learning letters and sounds and also incorporated learning about the physical skill required for developing handwriting skills.
We’ll be running the workshop again in a couple of months for our new parents and any parents that missed this one. We always welcome feedback, and here’s some nice comments:
